No, anyone presenting the tickets can enter, so they are freely transferable. We cannot admit anyone to the festival with an already invalidated QR code!
Is it possible that tickets get sold out for a given day?
In theory, yes, we sell a fixed number of tickets for each day. This year, however, the festival will again be held in a large area, so the chances are small in practice. In case of very high demand, it might happen on Friday or Saturday, the two most visited days. It is advisable to either buy tickets in advance for these days or arrive at the venue on time.
Location and opening hours
Untill when can I enter the event?
Box offices close one hour before the end of the event every day, so you can buy a ticket on the spot, or redeem your pre-purchased ticket until then. Of course, with a valid wristband, you can enter the festival unlimited times during the entire opening hours.
What is the age limit for free entry to the festival?
Children under the age of 14 can attend the festival for free.

If you would like to visit the Budapest History Museum:
The History Museum's permanent exhibitions can be visited free of charge with a Budapest Wine Festival day ticket or a four-day pass. If you would only like to visit the museum and not the festival, you can do so through the entrance of the festival at 'Barokk' gate os Palota út gate, from where you can get through the festival area to the entrance of the museum with a special wristband given by the festival staff. It is important to know that this wrist band does not let you visit the festival or the museum. After completing your museum program, you must leave the festival area. After buying a ticket to the festival, you are free to stay, of course!
If you would like to visit the exhibitions of the Hungarian National Gallery:
From 8 to 11 September 2022, the 31st Budapest Wine Festival is taking place in some areas of the Buda Castle (Fishing Children's Terrace, Savoy Terrace, Hunyadi Courtyard, Lion's Court, Csikós Courtyard). Those areas are only accessible with a valid wristband of the Wine Festival.
Visitors to the Hungarian National Gallery can visit the exhibitions as follows:
- You can approach the main entrance of the MNG (building 'C') with a free wristband and visitor's card, which you can get at either the Baroque gate entrance of the festival, or at the entrance from Palota út. This only entitles you to getting to the museum through the festival area but not to staying at the festival. Exhibition tickets can be purchased according to the conditions of the National Gallery.
- Please leave the Wine Festival area right after you exit the Gallery.
- Please hand in your visitor card at the gates of the Wine Festival upon exit.

How to pay
Can I use my SZÉP card?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept SZÉP cards for online or on-site purchases. Thank you for your understanding!
How to get there
Where can I enter the event?
Arriving from Szent György street (through the "Koldus kapu or the "Barokk Kapu"); from Palota út (using the Csikós Courtyard elevator or the Széchenyi Library elevator); When leaving, please note that the elevator of the National Széchenyi Library is only open until 1:00 AM!
What shall I do if I want to arrive and leave by taxi?
Due to the renovations taking place in Buda Castle, the upper section of The Palace Road (after the Castle Garage) has been closed, so Dísz Square will not be accessible for taxis from this direction. Due to the road lockdown, we recommend getting in and out of the cars near our cash desk on Palota Road, where you can get to the Csikós Udvar using an elevator. If you still want to come to Dísz Square, you can only do so through Hunyadi János Road.
Services
Will there be a medical service at the event?
There will be an ambulance car on the spot, throughout the whole duration of the festival.
Policy
Can I bring my dog to the event?
You can bring your dog at your own risk, on a leash and if possible with a muzzle (due to the crowd) but we do not recommend it because of the possible splinters of broken glasses on the ground.
Will I be served in any glass at the festival?
Exhibitors of the Budapest Wine Festival can only serve drinks in the festival's official, branded tasting glass. The glass is part of the entrance ticket, which you will receive upon entry.
