A new momentum is being given to the professional evaluation of international wine competitions, as the UIOE (Union Internationale des Oenologues) and VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions) have renewed their cooperation. The aim of the agreement is to make the organization and evaluation of wine competitions worldwide more unified, transparent, and professionally grounded.

The joint initiative is driven by the intention to place even greater emphasis on scientific and practical expertise in the judging of wines. This not only strengthens the credibility of competitions in the long term, but also provides consumers with professionally sound guidance when interpreting the results. A key element of the cooperation is structured information and data exchange. Within this framework, the parties will share experiences related to the organization, execution, and outcomes of competitions, as well as the professional criteria applied during evaluation. This contributes to ensuring that assessments remain consistent and comparable in all cases.

Greater emphasis will also be placed on the involvement of winemakers in professional jury work, as their knowledge and hands-on experience are indispensable in the technological and qualitative evaluation of wines. The objective is to establish a judging system built on solid professional foundations that conveys real value.

In addition, the parties will jointly develop a patronage guideline that provides direction for the high-quality and transparent organization of competitions, as well as for the harmonization of judging methodologies.

UIOE and VINOFED also commit to maintaining regular dialogue and forming joint professional positions on matters related to wine competitions. This will further promote international cooperation and the development of a unified approach in regulatory and methodological areas.

The renewed cooperation sends a clear message: the goal is to raise the professional standards of wine competitions, recognize expertise, and operate a modern, credible evaluation system that serves the interests of the entire wine sector.
